Major setback

I received amazing feedback from everyone who has tried the game, so, first of all, thank you for this, and keep it coming!

I was very much looking forward to improving the game in response to these comments, but there was a major setback. For reasons yet unknown to me and which I cannot understand, it seems that either something got corrupted in the project files, or there is something wrong with my installation of Unity.
As a result, I have lost a ton of work (I estimate probably around 10-15h, as I am a beginner and fairly slow still). Fortunately, I managed to find a backup of my project which does not yet seem to be affected by the issue. Fingers crossed! But it still means I will need to reimplement a few of the changes I had made recently.

Here is a list of the features I need to reimplement, and the features that are coming soon-ish (as soon as I am done with rebuilding what I lost...)
TO BE REDONE:

  • Fix UI issues with anchoring + fonts
  • Fix animations so that they change with game states
  • Redo particle effects
  • Redo music and SFX
  • Ajust range for movement + spawning objects

TO BE DONE BASED ON COMMENTS:

  • Lessen the "motion sickness" effect: I will use a less detailed background and play around with camera and perspective to see if it helps. I will also start with a slower speed and only increase the speed progressively.
  • Related to speed progression: implement levels. I am thinking of using scriptable objects to store (& retrieve) the data for every level and manage level changes more smoothly.
  • Add UI elements matching the levels, so that the player knows where they are at.
  • Add an game state for winning the game once all of the levels have been completed.

I will be lecturing at university very soon, so I may have slightly less time to dedicate to this project until March, but I hope I will be able to upload a new version by then!
